In 2025-26, Florida Panthers star Sam Reinhart appeared in only 69 games, his fewest total since joining the club in 2021. Despite missing time due to injury, he still led the team with 29 goals and 61 points. Moreover, last year marked the first time that Reinhart failed to reach the 30-goal plateau with the Panthers. However, his four 30-goal campaigns remain tied with Olli Jokinen for the most in franchise history.
If Reinhart stays healthy in 2026-27, he'll have an opportunity to claim the record outright.
Florida Panthers with 30-goal seasons
In Florida’s first season, 1993-94, franchise legend Scott Mellanby became the first player to score 30 goals, tallying exactly 30 in 80 games. Although he didn’t reach the plateau in 1994-95, he became the second Panthers player to tally 30, setting a record with 32 in 1995-96. Soon, Ray Whitney would score 32 in 1997-98 to tie Mellanby’s record, but their time at the time was short-lived when Pavel Bure arrived.
In 1999-00, the Russian Rocket shattered the previous record, scoring 58 goals. However, Bure wasn’t done with his assault on the team record book, scoring 59 goals in 2000-01 to set the mark that has yet to be broken over 25 years later.
Even though the Panthers were not contenders in the first decade of the 2000s, with no playoff appearances from 2000 to 2012, three players scored 30 or more goals, with Jokinen reaching the plateau a record four times in 2003 (36), 2006 (38), 2007 (39), and 2008 (34). In the middle of Jokinen’s run, Nathan Horton collected 31 in 2006-07, giving the Panthers their first season with multiple 30-goal scorers. Meanwhile, at the end of the decade, David Booth tallied 31 in 2008-09.
Panthers produce an abundance of 30-goal scorers (2016-2025)
By the time Aleksander Barkov and Aaron Ekblad arrived and helped change the Panthers’ fortunes, only six players had ever scored 30 or more goals in a single season. Meanwhile, over the past ten seasons, nine different players reached the plateau, with four doing it multiple times. It all started with Jonathan Marchessault, who scored 30 in 2016-17. Soon, he was joined by Vincent Trocheck, who bagged 31 in 2017-18.
Thanks to an abundance of riches, three players achieved the feat in 2018-19, including Barkov (35), Jonathan Huberdeau (30), and Mike Hoffman (36). If fans thought having three 30-goal scorers in one lineup was special, they must not have believed their eyes when four Florida players did it in 2021-22, with Barkov (39), Anthony Duclair (31), Jonathan Huberdeau (30), and Reinhart (33) all reaching the plateau.
Ahead of the 2026-27 season, that magical 2021-22 campaign remains the high point in franchise history. In 2022-23, when the Panthers marched to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1996, only three skaters tallied more than 30 goals, with Carter Verhaeghe (42) and Matthew Tkachuk (40) giving the team their first-ever pair of 40-goal scorers. Additionally, Reinhart chipped in 31 goals.
In the past three seasons, only Verhaeghe and Reinhart have had 30-goal campaigns. While Reinhart took a shot at Bure’s single-season record, scoring 57 in 2023-24, Verhaeghe collected 34. As mentioned, no one reached 30 last year, but Reinhart remains the last 30-goal scorer, reaching 39 in 2024-25. Considering the Panthers are almost fully healthy heading into training camp, Reinhart has a great chance to surpass Jokinen and become Florida’s first-ever five-time 30-goal scorer.
