Following successful stints in recent years as a member of the Florida Panthers, Brandon Pirri will be returning to FLA on a PTO hoping to crack the opening day lineup.

The 26-year-old is attempting to rediscover his offensive game by going back to the only place where he experienced tremendous success: Florida. Although accomplished players such as David Booth who’ve previously signed PTO’s with the Cats in the past didn’t make the team; Brandon Pirri fortunately contains a highly realistic shot of being inserted into the bottom six. In 60 regular season games for the New York Rangers, Pirri compiled an unimpressive slash line of 8G, 10A and 18 points.

However, Brandon currently possesses the glorious opportunity to essentially revitalize his declining career returning to an area of familiarity. Pirri will ultimately be competing with other incredibly hungry, promising rookies vying for a roster spot. This signing by FLA is relatively inexpensive, especially for a player who would greatly improve the 3rd line, as well as instantly adding necessary depth to the team.

Pirri experienced his greatest season in the NHL back in Florida during the 2014-15 campaign; where the pure finisher potted an astounding slash line of 22G, 2A and 24 points in 49 games of regular season action.

Although, Brandon was unable to duplicate his prior success the following season. Pirri’s poor performances and streak of being healthy scratched to ensure the sniper wouldn’t potentially get injured; ultimately caused the Cats to deal Pirri to the potent playoff contender Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 6th round pick (during the trade deadline in 2015-16).

When Brandon Pirri is 100% healthy, he’s arguably an impactful player who would instantly improve the forward group of any team around the league, let alone the offensively challenged Florida bunch. Brandon is very skillful in shootouts and can easily be utilized during power play instances. His offensive prowess is simply incredible, however, Pirri’s defensive game contains an abundance of flaws which require immediate fixing and warranted attention.

Pirri is essentially walking into the Panthers’ building for a second go-around with a chip on his shoulder. He’ll be forced to make a sizeable impression, otherwise, his days as an NHLer may come to a premature conclusion.
