For the first time in franchise history, the Florida Panthers played an NHL regular-season game in September. Thanks to a goal from Gustav Forsling and an assist from Carter Verhaeghe, the pair are now the team’s all-time leaders for points in the month. Tonight, the Cats begin their October slate, giving us a chance to revisit the team’s all-time October scorers. With three players on this list still active, things could shift by Halloween.

Panthers all-time leading scorers in October

Vincent Trocheck - 39 points

Vincent Trocheck played 48 October games for the Panthers, scoring 39 points. Of the 16 goals he scored that month, three were game winners, and two were shorthanded, making him one of seven players with more than one shorthanded tally. However, he was minus-4, the second-worst plus/minus total of any skater on this list.

Aaron Ekblad - 39 points

Aaron Ekblad is a former first overall pick and one of the greatest defensemen in Panthers history. With one more point, he’ll break his tie with Trocheck at the bottom of this list. With two points, he’ll join the group of players with more than 40 points in October. Moreover, with six more October games, he’ll become the second Panther to reach 100 appearances in the month, with Barkov positioned to get there first

Nathan Horton - 41 points

Nathan Horton is another player who began his NHL career with the Panthers and usually doesn’t disappoint early in the season. In 70 October games, he had 41 points, earning him a top-10 ranking. Moreover, he remains one of only six skaters to ever reach 20 goals and 100 penalty minutes in a month.

Viktor Kozlov - 42 points

Viktor Kozlov was very productive during his brief stint with the Panthers from 1998 to 2003, scoring 42 points in only 54 October games. Despite 14 goals in the month, he’s the only player with a single game-winner to crack the top 10 in points.

Scott Mellanby - 42 points

Scott Mellanby got a head start on everyone on this list, since he was an original Panther who joined the club in 1993. In 65 games, he tallied 42 points, which set the bar, eventually matched by Kozlov and broken by many others. What’s even more impressive is that he tallied 20 goals on only 133 shots, the lowest shot total among the top 10 players, while also collecting 126 penalty minutes, the second-most in franchise history during October.

Sam Reinhart - 42 points

As a multi-time 30-goal scorer, Sam Reinhart is about to break a three-way tie with Kozlov and Mellanby. Heading into the 2026-27 campaign, he’s collected 42 points in 48 October games, and based on his usual production, he has a good chance of becoming the fifth player ever to have 50 points in the month. Among the top 10, Reinhart is tied with Barkov with a .88 points-per-game average.

Stephen Weiss - 50 points

Former fourth-overall pick Stephen Weiss is the last player to score 50 points in October for the Panthers, achieving this total across 87 games from 2002 to 2011. Among the top 10 skaters, he has the third-lowest goal total with 15.

Jonathan Huberdeau - 59 points

Jonathan Huberdeau had a brilliant run with the Panthers from 2012 to 2022, setting the franchise record for most regular-season points with 115. He is the team’s third-best performer in October, thanks to 59 points in 73 games. Despite his successes, he was only plus-1 across 73 games in the month.

Olli Jokinen - 59 points

As one of the best Finnish players to wear a Panthers sweater, Olli Jokinen scored 59 points over 82 games in October from 2000 to 2007. He currently holds the club record for goals in the month with 27, with Barkov nipping at his heels. Most interestingly, he was a combined minus-19, the worst October plus/minus in Panthers history.

Aleksander Barkov - 85 points

Unsurprisingly, the Panthers captain is the franchise’s top performer in October, and it’s not even close. With 85 points in 97 games, he’s 26 points ahead of Jokinen and Huberdeau, meaning no one is going to catch the 13-year veteran. Heading into October, he needs one more game-winner and two goals to tie Jokinen for the top spot in each category.
