Panthers Defeat Sabres As They Prepare For Trip To Finland
Panthers get valuable two points as they take off for cross-continental flight.
The Florida Panthers skated out to a 2-0 lead Monday night as they rallied to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 5-2.
The Panthers got goals from Jesper Boqvist and Sam Reinhart in the first period.
Following the game, the Panthers took off for Finland for games later this week.
The second goal came off a fantastic no-look pass from Sasha Barkov which left Reinhart shaking his head. He could be seen mouthing the word "unbelievable".
The Sabres rallied to tie the game in the second. Carter Verhaeghe then scored to give the Panthers the lead back at 3-2 early in the third period.
Reinhart blocked a shot on a power play kill in the third period right in front of Sergei Bobrovsky. Reinhart then got the puck out of the Panthers zone to kill the penalty.
Sam Bennett scored his eighth goal of the season with 5:25 left in the game to make the score 4-2. He scored on a slapshot from the right point.
Bennett now has a career-long five-game goal streak and is off to a fantastic start with eight goals in 11 games.
Barkov scored the final goal of the night, his first goal of the season. He missed the last eight games due to injury.
Bennett, Barkov, Verhaeghe and Reinhart each tallied an assist to go with their goals.
Bobrovsky earned victory number 401 by making 26 saves Monday night.
