Facts and Thoughts

The 12-game national broadcast schedule is a marked increase from the 7 games the team had broadcast nationally last season. This undoubtedly is a reward for finishing runner-up in the Stanley Cup Final and booting the Boston Bruins, last year’s President Trophy winners, from the playoffs in the first-round. Speaking of which, Boston is the only opponent that features twice on the schedule.

Not only did the quantity of nationally broadcast games increase, but the quality did as well. Of last season’s seven national games, 2 took place on TNT with 5 taking place on ESPN+. This season, TNT has 4 games, ESPN+ has 5 exclusives, and newly added this year are 2 games on ABC and 1 on ESPN.

The Panthers again have a favorable Home-Away split for their nationally broadcast games with 7 of 12 taking place at FLA Live Arena. Last season, five of the nationally broadcasted games were played on home ice, with the team winning 3 and losing 1 apiece in regulation and overtime. Overall, the team saw success in front of a national television audience with a combined Home-Away record of 4-2-1.

The April 16 matchup versus Toronto will be the Panthers’ final game of the regular season, and Toronto’s penultimate. If there are any outstanding divisional standings battles being contested by both teams, it could serve as an early glimpse of playoff style hockey.
