Florida Panthers Select Justin Schutz with the 170th Pick

With the 170th pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Florida Panthers selected forward Justin Schutz from RB Hockey Akademie.

The 5’10”, 172lb left-winger featured in 40 Extraliga Starsiho Dorostu (Czech Under-18) league games, recording 24G, 38A, and 62 points. During the previous season with the same club, Schutz tallied 12G, 21A, and 33 points in just 29 games played.

Internationally, Justin represented Germany at the Under-18 World Junior Championship Division 1A, putting up two goals in four games while leading Team Germany to a silver medal performance. Shutz was also named the top player for his nation, taking home the U18 WJC (D1A) Top Player of the Team award.

Next season, Justin Shutz will continue his development in Austria, playing for EC Salzburg II in the Alps Hockey League (Alps HL).
