Monday Link Party

At long last we finally begun the season and the Party that the Florida Panthers have been advertising all summer has started.  That and the new slogan “We Came To Play” will be seen and heard everywhere here in South Florida.  Hopefully the the party atmosphere has nothing to do with how we play, cause if we play like we’re having a party, the results will keep us out of a playoff spot for the 10th consecutive season for sure.  I’m at least hoping to finish 13thm but realize that 15th is more like it.  With that said, here’s the links to stories from last week you need to see.

You loyal readers (all 4 of you) thought that I had some hatred for the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Well, let me say that Four Habs Fans will be a tough act to follow as they piss on aren’t too happy with the Pens new slogan for their new arena.

Blades of Funny is back at it again and not a moment too soon.  Read up on his latest antics comments and thoughts about the start of the season.

One of the biggest NHL rivalries exits between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins.  The Hockey Blog Adventure has an additional twist as how this matchup adds up.

Predictions are everywhere and made by almost everyone.  Some make sense and some don’t.  Finally I’ve found someone who doesn’t predict the Canuckleheads to finish first in the conference.  Read The Ryan Coke Experience.

The Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames combined for a 10-1 pre-season record.  Not to get their fans hopes up, according to inside information we received from Intent To Blow, the teams have apologized.

While nothing to do with Hockey, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is making a comeback of sorts.  Justin Bourne, a former NHL player with his own blog site, Bourne’s Blog comments on sportswriter Bill Simmons views of Vick.  As always a good read.

In case you missed it Litter Box Cats relives the Jacques Martin Era in the first of a two part series.  Grab the Pepto Bismal and Imodium, or Kaopectate.  As good as this piece is, reading it is going to give you irritable bowl syndrome.

Gone, but certainly not fogotten, the overall third pick of this years draft Erik Gudbranson does not make the Florida Panthers roster due to money.  Nothing else.  The Cats and Erik’s agent couldn’t agree on performance bonuses, so Erik’s been sent back to Kingston, Ontario to play in juniors.  A sad turn of events that snowballed.  Now my daughter must go to the homecoming dance without him!  The Sun-Sentinel’s Harvey Fialkov talks about Erik’s frustration.

The Active Stick is very happy that hockey is back.  So happy that she welcomed back a very special guest.

Dale Tallon the Florida Panthers new General manager was a guest Saturday night on CBC’s After Hours show which is shown after the late Canadien game every Saturday.  This particular night the Canucks were honoring Dale and Pat Quinn and Orland Kurtenbach as part of their 40 year history.  Dale was a number one pick of the “Nucks” and was part of the festivities.  The Chicago Blackhawawks also raised their Stanley Cup Banner on this night, so Tallon could only be in one place. Hey Vancouver, why not do it Monday night when you host the Cats?  Just sayin’, cause then Dale could have attended both.  Here’s the video:
