5 Free Agent Defenceman The Florida Panthers Should Consider Adding

The Florida Panthers had a wild first day of free agency as they completed deals with 6 players including Jussi Jokinen, and Willie Mitchell. After the busy day way back on July 1st, General Manager Dale Tallon hinted that we may not be done adding to the team.

“Obviously we’re in good shape for now and we’ll just sit tight and see what happens. We’ll probably look at another defenseman, a left-shot guy, to play depending on what type of player and what the situation is as far as contracts are concerned. But we’re going to sit tight for a while and see what happens.” – Dale Tallon

Assuming the Panthers defense shapes up somewhat like this I noticed that one or two injuries could really turn a good defense into a bad one. Signing one of these defenceman would only benefit us as it would add more depth/options to a team that seems to be hit hard with the injury bug every season.

Staying true to Tallon’s statement I decided to check out the available left-handed defenceman still available on the free agent market that I think are worthy of at least a training camp invite for the Panthers. Keep in mind that all of these players listed would likely come on cheap, one-year deals. Here are the five players I came up with:
