The Florida Panthers announced early today that they have re-signed defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to a three year deal worth $13 million. This signing leaves Jimmy Hayes as the only restricted free agent who hasn’t signed a deal yet.
The Panthers drafted Kulikov 14th overall back in 2009 and ever since he has been a very integral part of the teams defense. During his still young career, Kulikov has posted 99 points through five seasons (24 G, 75 A). Check out his full stats here.
In my opinion, the price is a little high but if Kulikov gets anywhere near his potential, this deal could turn out to be a great one. He will turn just 24 in the beginning of the season and with new Head Coach Gerard Gallants fast, puck possesion style of play I think he will fit in perfectly and have a career year.
Here’s what the Florida Panthers defense could look like come October:
|Brian Campbell||Willie Mitchell|
|Dmitry Kulikov||Erik Gudbranson|
|Aaron Ekblad||Dylan Olsen|
|Colby Robak (Healthy Scratch)|
