Florida Panthers Sign Montoya

The Panthers added some goaltender depth today as they signed veteran Al Montoya. Terms of the deal haven’t got out yet but this signing could mark the end of Dan Ellis as Loungo’s backup in Florida. Montoya has been a solid back-up his whole career and last  season for Winnipeg he posted a 13-8-3 record with a 2.30 GAA and a .920 SV%. Check out Montoya’s career stats here.

I really like this signing as last years backup, Dan Ellis looked awful last year. If Loungo goes down with an injury Montoya can step in and win games.
