Florida Panthers Sign Enforcer Shawn Thornton

Today the Florida Panthers announced they signed veteran, tough guy Shawn Thornton to a 2 year contract worth $2.4 million. Thornton will replace former Panther enforcer Krys Barch in the line-up and is an extremely high character player who will be a good leader in the locker room.

Suprisingly, Thornton can put up some decent numbers for an enforcer as he posted 8 points last year and compiled 74 penalty minutes in 64 games. In the 2010-2011 season Thornton posted a 10 goal 10 assist season and posted 122 penalty minutes. Check out his career stats here.
