Florida Panthers Sign Derek MacKenzie

The Florida Panthers continue to add forward depth today as they have signed center, Derek MacKenzie to a 3 year, $3.9 million contract. MacKenzie is a solid, hard-working forward who at this point with all the centers we already have, I think will be just a depth guy. He is another solid character guy who will work wonders in the young locker room.

Last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Derek scored 9 goals and dished out 9 assists in 71 games. His best season in the NHL came in the 2010-2011 season when he posted 23 points. Check out his career stats here.

Where is the scoring RW and D help? We sign Boland who is a 3rd line center with one 4- pt season, Jokinen-another C-who has averaged 15 goals per season-Thornton who will give us 6 min/gm and a G who has moved around..I don’t get the plan.

As a CBJ fan I am very sad to see him go. Won’t see much of him in the score sheets but you’ll apperciate all his hard work on the ice
