Florida Panthers Sign Dave Bolland

This signing has been rumored for quite some time and today it became official as the Florida Panthers signed Bolland to a 5 year, $27.5 contract. Dave was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2004 by Dale Tallon who is now the GM of the Panthers. This signing seemed inevitable. Bolland’s addition adds even more veteran leadership to the Cats and will be a nice 3rd line center. Bolland plays a gritty style of hockey and can put the puck in the net when needed.

In my opinion, the contract is ridiculous as Bolland is often hurt. However, when healthy Bolland is a very useful player. This is what losing does to a franchise. Good players don’t want to come to bad teams for cheap. Any way the Panthers have upgraded their roster today.

Bolland missed most of last season but put up 12 points in 23 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last year. Check out his career stats here.
