The Rat Trick Morning Links: Thatcher Demko, Brian MacLellan, Habs Offense Explode,

The Montreal Canadiens won a thrilling 7-4 game on the hands of a Rene Bourque hat trick. The second period was one of the most entertaining periods these playoffs as six goals were scored overall in the frame.

Broken jaw? So what? Derek Stepan returns to the lineup and scored two goals in his team’s loss.

The series had to endure another blackmark, as John Moore received a match penalty late in the third period for a hit to the head on Dale Weise, who needed to be helped off the ice but did return to play three more shifts. Moore will have a hearing to determine any further suspension, receiving a match penalty already carries an one-game suspension with it.

Thought yesterday was the last you would hear about Barry Trotz? Wrong! Here is the run down from his press conference for him and new general manager Brian MacLellan. Some interesting stuff in there.

A name that I believe the Florida Panthers should highlight on their draft board, not for the first overall pick but for their second round pick is Thatcher Demko of Boston College. Given enough time to gain experience, Demko could be NHL ready around the time Roberto Luongo hits about 40-years old. Not many goaltenders have gone in the first round lately, but Demko could sneak into the first – so the Panthers might have to trade back into the first to get him. It could be worth it.

Patrick Kane has yet to score in the series, so it isn’t a surprise the Chicago Blackhawks are trailing their series and one game from elimination. A look at what might be going on with the ‘Hawks talented forward.
