The Rat Trick Morning Links: Andrew Shaw Returns, Carcillo, Halak Signs, Hawks Dynasty

Andrew Shaw will make his much anticipated return to the lineup Saturday night for the Chicago Blackhawks. One of last year’s playoff heroes has been out of action for the last two weeks with an injury. Shaw playing style makes him a very important piece come playoff time.

The playoffs are a very emotional time for the players. With so much on the line, they pour their heart and souls into their play for the opportunity to lift the cup. Call it caught up in the moment or just a plain stupid play, Daniel Carcillo’s playoffs ended last night – and could potentially miss part of next season – after hitting a referee.

After being left for dead when their goaltender Carey Price went down with an injury, the Montreal Canadiens may have found new life after Alex Galchenyuk scored the overtime winner to make the series 2-1 in favor of the New York Rangers. Dustin Tokarski made 35-saves in net to keep the Habs in the game.

After having his rights traded from the Washington Capitals to the New York Islanders, Jaroslav Halak was officially apart of four different organizations this season. For now, over the next four years he will remain with one as he signed a contract with the Islanders worth $18 million.

When Wayne Gretzky speaks, the hockey world listens, and the Great One gave his thoughts on the Blackhawks on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ – saying that in today’s Salary Cap world, if the Hawks were to win the Cup again you would have to start considering them a dynasty. Somewhat obvious – but to hear Gretzky say that means it carries that much more weight.
