Florida Panthers: Dan Ellis to get first start

Tonight will have another player making his Florida Panthers debut tonight as goaltender Dan Ellis will be making his first game since being traded from the Dallas Stars.

The 33-year old goaltender was acquired in the trade that sent Tim Thomas to the Lone Star State and has played in 14-games this season so far posting a 3.04 GAA and a .900 SP.

With the Panthers playing the New Jersey Devils tomorrow, they decided to rest Roberto Luongo tonight so they can play him tomorrow. Ellis has been career backup his entire career but his best statistical season came his first full season in the NHL, when he played 44-games (2.34 GAA, .924 SP).

With Sean Bergenheim out for tonight’s game, leading scorer Scottie Upshall will slide up to the top line with Nick Bjugstad and Brad Boyes. Brandon Pirri will center the second line with Quinton Howden and Vincent Trocheck will man the third.

Here is a full look at the lines given to by Steve Goldstein.
