2) Not Just Ovechkin

Let’s just take a brief moment to appreciate the Great 8. Alex Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals with 26 and he is coming off a thrilling game Tuesday in which he scored four times. If he scores a hat-trick tonight he will have accomplished the feat of scoring 50 goals in his last 50 games. A hat-trick tonight is not far out of the question as Ovi has tallied 30 goals and 31 assists in 47 career games against the Panthers. Of his 13 career hat-tricks, two have come against the Panthers.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s take a look at some other Capitals players. Niklas Backstrom is tied for 5th in the NHL in assists with 25 and with 32 points he is only 3 points behind Ovechkin for the team scoring lead. Joel Ward and Mikhail Grabovski each have nine goals and Mike Green leads the defense with 15 points (1G, 14A).

Oh who am I kidding, Ovechkin has scored 26.5% of the Caps goals this season, thats insane, maybe it is just Ovechkin.
