The Florida Panthers have promoted defenseman Dylan Olsen from their AHL affiliate the San Antonio Rampage. Veteran defenseman Mike Weaver has been placed on IR.
Olsen, 22, was acquired by the Panthers in the trade that sent Kris Versteeg to the Chicago Blackhawks. A first round pick (28th overall) in the 2009 Draft, Olsen has scored one goal and eight assists in 19 games in the minors. He has tallied one assist in 28 career NHL games, all with the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Panthers have also placed veteran defenseman Mike Weaver, 35, on injured reserve. The exact nature of Weaver’s injury is not entirely clear but he has been out of the lineup with the flu since the Panthers November 15th game against the Wild. Weaver has one assist in 20 games with the Panthers this season.
