St. Louis Blues: 7-1-2 (16 pts) at Florida Panthers: 3-7-2 (8 pts)
The Florida Panthers play the finale of their season-long six game home stand tonight against the St. Louis Blues at the BB&T Center. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. Here are five story lines to watch for tonight:
1) Revenge Game
Tonight will be the second and final matchup between the Panthers and the Blues. The Panthers faced St. Louis on the road in early October and were embarrassed 7-0. You can bet that memory is still fresh in the minds of the players and it is certainly still bothering head coach Kevin Dineen. When asked about the loss and how the Panthers will use it as motivation tonight, Dineen responded: “We got our [behinds] kicked so how do you think we’re going to react to it? You get beat bad, a team spanks you and we’re all professional and have pride. We know we took a really good kicking there.”
Feeling sour about losing 7-0 is all well and good but the Panthers will need a lot more than just jilted egos if they are planning on beating the Blues tonight. St. Louis has been one of the leagues best teams winning seven of their first ten games. Allowing just 2.40 goals per game, the Blues are a particularly tough matchup for the Panthers who have been struggling offensively all season averaging only 2.08 goals per game.
