Sale Of Florida Panthers To Be Completed By Friday

The sale of the Florida Panthers could be finalized as soon as this Friday.

The Rat Trick was informed by a source close to the situation  that the deal will be progressing very quickly this week and While specific details were not provided, the source did add that this Friday will be a day to pay close attention to.

Last week the New York Post broke the news that the Panthers are in the process of being sold to New York based buisinessman Vincent ‘Vinnie’ Viola. Viola is the current CEO of electronic trading firm Virtu Financial, and is a former chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The Brooklyn born Viola currently resides in Manahattan and West Palm Beach, Florida. Viola who is a former minority owner of the NBA’s Nets has been descirbed in the past as a ‘tough guy from Brooklyn’.

NHL commisioner Garry Bettman told ESPN.com that the deal is ‘on track’ and that it will get done ‘as quickly as possible’. It now appears that the deal will be done in the coming days.

Initial reports of the sale had Panther fans worried about the posibilites of the team leaving Florida but reports are that Viola plans to keep the team in Sunrise. The Post also reported that Viola is already working to keep current Panthers CEO Michael Yormark on board.
