Vincent Trocheck Named OHL's Most Outstanding Player

Vincent Trocheck added another piece of hardware to his trophy case winning the Red Tilson Trophy awarded to the Ontario Hockey League’s most outstanding player. Trocheck has already won the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy which is given to the OHL’s top scorer. Trocheck had a monster season with the Saginaw Spirit and the Plymouth Whalers scoring 109 points (50 goals, 59 assists). In the playoffs, Trocheck led his Plymouth Whalers to the Western Conference Finals before falling to the London Knights. In 15 playoff games, Trocheck tallied 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists).

Notable Red Tilson Trophy Winners include Tyler Seguin (09-10), John Tavares (06-07), Wojitek Wolski (05-06) and Corey Perry (04-05). Florida Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell won the award following the 98-99 season.

Trocheck’s memorable season has Panther fans jumping at the prospect of seeing him in a Panther uniform in the near future. Barring a trade, Trocheck will be with the Panther organization at the start of next season but chances are he will be suiting up for the Rampage in the AHL rather than with the Panthers. Florida will most likely give him a tryout in pre-season and if he continues the dominant play he has demonstrated in the OHL, we may see him with the Panthers sooner rather than later.
