While the playoff seeding in the Eastern Conference is still in flux, the non-playoff teams are locked into their spots for the NHL Draft Lottery taking place Monday at 8 p.m. ET. The Florida Panthers, as the NHL’s last place team, has the best chance of winning the lottery at 25%. If the Panthers do not win, they will be bumped down to the second pick in the NHL Entry draft.
The lottery is essentially a drawing for the chance to select Seth Jones with the number one pick. The big defenseman, Jones, is the consensus number one prospect in the draft.
Here are the non-playoff teams’ chances of winning the number one pick:
Florida Panthers-25 percent
Tampa Bay Lightning-14.2
New Jersey Devils-2.7
Columbus Blue Jackets-0.5
