The Panther have announce today that they have traded 24 year old defender Keaton Ellerby to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a 5th round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The Kings had originally acquired the pick from the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 6. (Source)

Ellerby was drafted by the Panthers 10th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 125 NHL games, all with the Panthers. Ellerby had played in nine games for the Panthers before the trade. With the return of Erik Gudbranson and the young defense prospects the Panthers have waiting in the wings, Ellerby became the odd man out. I enjoyed watching him with the Panthers and wish him all the best with the Kings.
