While the Tampa Bay Lightning were taking care of business with the Washington Capitals by winning 6-3. The Florida Panthers were busy making sure the Carolina Hurricanes were minimized to just some wind. The final score was 5-1 with 4 goals coming in the first period. Cam Ward, who was once one of the most feared goalies in the league, was pulled in favor of letting Dan Ellis (formerly a Bolt in the 2010/11 season) take the reigns.
Take the reigns he did. He only allowed 1 goal (in the 2nd period).
Brian Campbell scored two goals for the Cats. Jonathan Huberbeau, Scottie Upshall, and Alex Kovalev scored one goal each. Patrick Dwyer scored the one goal for the Hurricanes. 42 Shots on Goal for the Hurricanes, and 25 Shots on Goal for the Panthers.
This goes to show some that you can keep shooting at the net, but it is the quality of shot that counts.
