Florida Panthers Gameday Preview

The Panthers begin their season tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes. It will be an exciting day, hockey will be back after a long vacation and the Panthers will be celebrating last seasons Southeast division championship.

I am currently stuck in Baltimore sans computer so I cannot do a full preview. Here are some things I will be looking forward to when the puck drops tonight

  • The fans: will the fans in South Florida begrudge the team for the lockout? I do not think so. I expect the BB&T Center to be rocking this evening.
  • Panther debuts: Tonight will  be the first game in the much anticipated career of Jonathan Huberdeau. We will also be seeing see debuts from Peter Meuller, Alex Kovalev, Filip Kuba and possibly George Parros.
  • Captain Jovo: Yesterday Ed Jovanovski was named the captain of the Panthers. After electing to go with no captain last season, head coach Kevin Dineen decided to go with Jovanovski. It will be cool to see Jovo in the leadership role for the team that originally drafted him.
  • What will the Panthers look like on defense? Will Kulikov be playing? Will the team go with Petrovic or possibly Michael Caruso? There are a lot of roster questions that will be answered tonight.

That’s all for me right now. Enjoy the game and enjoy the return of hockey!!
