Hopes are quickly fading of there being a 2012-2013 season as the National Hockey League announced all games through December 30th have now been scrubbed from the schedule. More games could’ve been canceled, but if they are closer than ever to a deal… the season could start January 1st.
I was reading today about how in 1995 the NHL started late, and played a regular season… shortened albeit… until May 3rd.
If the season does start, 48 games will be played… just like 1995. The schedule will feature intra-conference games just like back then when they were able to get in half a season’s worth of games.
How ironic would it be? Back in 1995, the Stanley Cup was awarded to the New Jersey Devils. How about it be awarded to the Florida Panthers this time? :)
