Cyclones, Wings - Friday Night Shoot-Out

Who says the game thriller’s are just for the NHL?  Not me, and not I don’t think anyone will second guess the Cyclones’ hockey abilities after last night’s game at the US Bank Arena.

Last night proved to be a very good game for both teams…  and, they came to play hockey.

First, look at the shots on goal throughout the game…  Cyclones had 18, and the Wings had 5 during the first period.  The score was tied 1-1 at the conclusion of that period’s buzzer.  The second period looked alot like the first…  however, the Wings had 14, and the Cyclones had only 4.  The score after two periods of play?  3-1 in the Wings favor.  The winds changed in the Cyclones favor during the third period eventhough the shots were pretty much even.  Cyclones had 5 shots with 2 goals scored, but the Wings had 8.  What was the difference?  The Wings couldn’t get it to into the net, and we went into overtime.

Shots on goal during the overtime period were 4 for the Cyclones, and 1 for the Wings.  No goals were scored.

Heading into the shoot-out… it was anyone’s game.  All it took, was for the puck to have eyes for the net, and the Cyclones won the game.  The final score… Cyclones 4, Wings 3.
