NHL Lockout Could Be Over In Next 24 Hours

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Okay, so there is nothing concrete yet, but I am hearing a lot of positive chatter.  The players have been meeting with a select group of owners and the talks seem to be going pretty well.  There is a Board of Governors Meeting today and according to Eklund over at hockeybuzz.com the two sides will be getting together before and after the meeting.  While HockeyBuzz is a site dedicated to hockey rumors, rumors have been about all we have had to go on with the lockout.  In addition, Eklund is usually spot on with the rumors.

Out in Boston, Steve Burton is reporting that the end of the lockout could be announced as soon as Wednesday. That is today for anyone keeping score at home.

These two reports combine to be the most positive news coming out about the lockout since its start way back in September, and it seems that the players and the league have some positive momentum going right now.  The timing also suggests that a deal could be done soon.  It is getting to a point where the entire season is in jeopardy and both sides have to be getting desperate to end this thing.  If the lockout were to end today, the first games would be starting sometime around Christmas.

Who put NHL hockey on their wish list this holiday season!???!
