Today, it an announcement was made that the National Hockey League and the Player’s Association have allowed Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services to mediate the stalled talks between both sides. As we know, both sides cannot come to a satisfactory Collective Bargaining Agreement to conclude this lockout by the NHL owners.
George Cohen, Director worked to help resolve the strike during the 1994/1995 Major League Baseball season as outside counsel. Cohen also mediated the 2010 negotiations in Major League Soccer, and the ones in 2011 for the National Football League, and Major League Baseball. Recently, they helped resolve the stalemate between the on-field officials, and National Football League.
Due to the sensitivity of the negotiations, and what is being discussed, the agency has publicly stated it will refrain from commenting publicly while they help work to resolve the lockout.
