I know the sides are far apart, or so they say, on the core economics that make up the NHL and how they play hockey. However, no one has yet to address the re-alignment situation when the former Atlanta Thrashers moved to be the Winnipeg Jets. Do they remember that the NHLPA shot this down last season when it was being addressed? I hope they are not forgetting this aspect of what needs to be the new CBA.
I propose Six Divisions… the names are to be determined at a later date by me. I do have a proposal that should make everyone happy.
Division 1 – Sharks, Ducks, Kings, Coyotes, Avalanche.
Division 2 – Stars, Lightning, Panthers, Blues, Predators.
Division 3 – Canucks, Flames, Oilers, Jets, Wild.
Division 4 – Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Capitals.
Division 5 – Penguins, Flyers, Sabres, Senators, Maple Leafs.
Division 6 – Islanders, Rangers, Devils, Bruins, Canadiens.
I do believe this is the best alignment possible. Some may find some flaws with it, but this is not an official one… just one fans wishful thinking of studying the placement of where the teams currently are playing in the United States of America, and Canada.
The placement of teams in a division could change with expansion, retraction, or a team moving from let’s say New York to Los Angeles… just using this as an example.
