It was announced on Monday by Sunrise Sports and Entertainment that the Florida Panthers, in an effort to boost awareness of the sport of hockey, have partnered with JetBlue Airlines to host a clinic in Puerto Rico. The clinic will be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Santurce, Puerto Rico on Thursday August 16th from 4-7 P.M. It’s expected that more than 100 youngsters from 5-16 years old will take part in this community event that will be led by current Panther defenceman Ed Jovanovski, goalie coach Rob Tallas, along with Panther alumni Randy Moeller and Bill Lindsay.
Michael Yormark had this to say about the event in the official release from the Panthers:
“We’re very excited about this unique opportunity to showcase the great sport of hockey to the sports fans and kids of Puerto Rico,” said SSE president & COO Michael R. Yormark. “With the Panthers having visited in the past, we know full well that Puerto Rico is a vibrant and passionate sports market and we are excited to return as part of our innovative partnership with JetBlue.”
Lisa Borromeo JetBlue’s Director of Brand Management and Advertising is excited about the event:
“The support we receive on Island is immense and giving back to the community with initiatives like these is fundamental to our brand. We’re happy to be supporting the Panthers on this great opportunity to share their skills and experience with Puerto Rico’s children!”
We’ll be posting photo’s from the event, as they become available to us.
