The NHL released it’s schedule today for all 30 teams, allowing us to salivate for the next 90 plus days until the regular season begins. While there are a number of important dates on the schedule for the 2011-2012 Florida Panthers, there will be none more important than opening night at the Bank Atlantic Center.
On Saturday night, October 13th the Florida Panthers will take on their cross state rival, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and will raise their first ever Division Championship banner. For those of you that have never witnessed an event like this in person, you will be doing yourself a tremendous favor to get your tickets for this game and be a part of Panther hockey history. To some teams hoisting a banner into the rafters is a common practice, but for this franshise it’s a milestone that will be one of the proudest moments in their history.
The electricity that you felt if you were in the stadium for one of the home playoff games will be a similar feeling on this special night. The best thing about this event, besides kicking off the regular season, is that the banner will hang from the rafters forever. It was a well earned accomplishment, and it will be a tremendous kickstart for the new season that’s upon us.
Click here for the full schedule. During the summer we’ll analyze the must see games, and the list of important one’s that will be crucial for the Panthers.
Don’t foget to come out to one of the draft parties on Friday Night that are being held at Duffy’s Sports Grill . If all goes well I’ll be at the Fort Lauderdale location. Stop by, say hi, and let’s talk some hockey!
