We Love That Sean Bergenheim Has Found The Scoring Touch

With the recent success the Panthers have been having, Sean Bergenheim has certainly played an important role in this recent winning streak. The new formed line of Marcel Goc, Mikael Samuelsson and Sean Bergenheim have really stepped up big time since the All Star Break, and have answered the call for secondary scoring.

Sean Bergenheim was plagued with injuries early on in the season. In the 4th game of the year he went down with a lower body injury and missed a total of 8 games. After coming back from his injury, Bergenheim never really started to click and find a groove. He managed to total only 5 points, all goals, in 22 games in his return to action. He seemed to have found a little groove scoring 3 goals in 2 games before once again going down with another injury in the middle of December. Bergenheim ended up missing the 2nd half of December and nearly all the month of January, a month the Panthers are glad is over with. After the All Star break, Bergenhiem certainly found his game.

Since February 1st, the Panthers have played 7 games and have gone 5-2. Bergenheim played 19:44 minutes in the game against the Devils, which was certainly new to him since he only averages about 15:36 a game. Bergenheim has certainly played a huge part in the recent success; he has 4 goals and 2 assists in those 7 games, one of which ended up being the game winning goal. Marcel Goc(6points) and Mikael Samuelsson(5points) have certainly helped Bergenheim throughout this 7 game stretch.

This new 2nd line of Bergenheim, Goc and Samuelsson has lifted the Panthers after the All Star break and they hope to continue to dominate the other teams top line. With the Flashmob line having such a successful season thus far, teams are starting to pay more attention to Weiss, Flash and Versteeg. With so much attention drawn to them, it’s very important for that 2nd line to be just as effective as the 1st. With the playoffs fast approaching, the Panthers are going to need this 2nd line to contribute heavily as the season goes on. Yes, the top line struggled for basically all of the month of January but they seem to be clicking as well.

We all know what Bergenheim did last season during the playoffs for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He came out of nowhere, to help carry the team all the way to Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Championship, but ending up just short to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions; the Boston Bruins. If Bergenheim can continue rolling with the 2nd line, that would be a huge asset the Panthers will need if they want to make a deep postseason run.

And to think, a little over a month ago, Bergenheim, Goc and Samuelsson were all out with injuries, but now that they’re rested and fully healthy. The only thing stopping them at this point is themselves. With the up and coming 4 game home stand it will be crucial for this trio to continue to grab some of the attention from the other teams so we can have 2 furious lines going nightly.
