Brian Campbell Selected To 4th Career All Star Game!

Brian Campbell has been the most consistent Florida Panther all season long and his consistency is being rewarded, as he has been selected to participate in the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All Star Game which will be held on January 29th in Ottawa, ON Canada.

No one should be surprised that Brian Campbell was selected due to the fact that his play all season long has been sharp and consistent. Campbell currently leads the Panthers defense with 33 points through 42 games. Certainly Campbell belongs with the elites in the NHL and he is certainly looking to have a career season this year. Aside from the points and the average time on the ice stats, Campbell controls the locker room resulting in the players believing in him, and they tend to feed off the kind of swagger and attitude that Campbell plays with. Moving to South Florida was the best move he could have made, and  Dale Tallon knew that, which is why Brian Campbell is being rewarded for the faith he had in Panthers GM Dale Tallon.

When Campbell was dealt here to South Florida many people questioned the motives by both organizations. Chicago wanted to free up some salary while Florida was looking to fill up salary. Campbell at first was hesitant on coming to Florida but after talking to Dale Tallon he knew this is where he belonged. Since the acquisition, Brian Campbell certainly hasn’t looked in the rear view mirror. One can tell he is playing with more freedom and confidence as he quarterbacks the power play, and is put into key situation’s when the Panthers need someone to make a play. Which is also why Brian Campbell was selected as The Rat Tricks midseason MVP.

Brian Campbell recently commented on the Sid Rosenberg show on 560 WQAM stating that “coming to Florida is the best move I’ve made in my career”. It’s awesome to hear a player like Brian Campbell say this despite the fact he has won a Stanley Cup and has been to multiple All Star Games. This certainly means a lot to Campbell and he hopes to represent the Panthers well in the All Star Game.

"“The first one was really special. This one probably is the best for myself. I feel like I’ve put a lot of work in. I feel like I’ve been written off a little bit sometimes by some people. This one probably means the most to me out of all of them. I love where I’m playing right now, I love the situation. It’s very rewarding with all the work that I’ve put into it to be able to go.” – Brian Campbell"

The game will be played in Ottawa which is only about a 6 hour drive from his hometown in Strathroy, Ontario, so certainly this game will be a homecoming to him and his family.

The Florida Panthers organization and fans are certainly happy to see Brian Campbell represent our franchise in the All Star game and we hope that his consistent play continues through the 2nd half of the season. On behalf of the rest of the crew here on The Rat Trick website, we’d like to wish a congratulations to alternate captain Brian Campbell!
