Steven Stamkos Gets A Hat Trick As The Tampa Bay Lightning Get The Win. Source:

The Hat Tricks Just Will Not Stop

The last 2 days have been full of scoring, action, and great match ups, but something special that does not happen often in a 2 day span has happened.  In the last 2 days there has been 3 hat tricks, on Friday Steven Stamkos put up his 2nd career hat trick vs. the Chicago Blackhawks in a 5-4 Tampa Bay Lightning win, also on Friday Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche put up his first career hat trick, but the Colorado Avalanche fell short to the Dallas Stars 7-6.  On Saturday Tyler Seguin put up his first career hat trick in a 7-0 Boston Bruins win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The defending Stanley Cup champions, Boston Bruins going into Saturdays game vs the Toronto Maple Leafs were not off to a good start, sitting dead last in the Eastern Conference with a 5-7 record and 10 points on the season.  I felt like the Boston Bruins needed a boost to get their season going, and I think Tyler Seguin, and Tim Thomas may have provided that boost in a 7-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Tyler Seguin in only his 2nd season in the NHL was able to complete his first career hat trick, and now has 14 points on the season, in what might just be his breakout season.

After a slow start to the season, the Tampa Bay Lightning have started to rebound, and on friday the Tampa Bay Lightning came thru with a 5-4 OT win over the Chicago Blackhawks who were completing their Florida road trip, after beating the Florida Panthers 3-2 in the shootout.  A huge part of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s win was Steven Stamkos who put up his 2nd career hat trick against the Chicago Blackhawks, both of Steven Stamkos hat tricks have came against the Chicago Blackhawks.  Steven Stamkos now has 13 points on the season, in what should be another great season for him.

The Colorado Avalanche were involved in a high scoring battle vs the Dallas Stars, while Matt Duchene was able to put up his first career hat trick, but unlike Tyler Seguin, and Steven Stamkos, Matt Duchene’s hat trick did not come with a win.  The Colorado Avalanche fell short to the Dallas Stars 7-6 in OT, after a Loui Eriksson game winning goal.  While Matt Duchene and his Colorado Avalanche did not get the win, Matt Duchene should be proud of himself, for not every player can say they have had a hat trick.   Matt Duchene now has a total of 10 points on the season.

The last 2 days we have been treated to some great hockey, most likely the most exciting we have seen all season, and it is great to see these young guns put up hat tricks so early in their young careers, they are the future of the NHL along with the future of their teams, and right now the future is very bright.
