Mike Santorelli

Welcome Back Mike Santorelli!

The Florida Panthers have looked great at times this season and many people are getting very excited for the rest of the year. What some people fail to realize is that there was a piece of the puzzle missing this whole time, and his name is Mike Santorelli!

Mike Santorelli came to the Florida Panthers last season from Nashville with only 32 NHL games under his belt and a total of 3 points. Before last season, he never really had a shot at the NHL level for a full season. But Dale Tallon found something quite special in Mike last season as he totaled 20 goals and 21 assists in all 82 games.

Mike Santorelli was injured during a preseason game versus’ the Dallas Stars and has been out ever since. Ryan Carter has filled the void in the mean time, but with Mike Santorelli back, it adds a whole new dimension of play and depth. Although last season he finished with a -17 +/-, he managed to score on 10% of his shots. He also adds a new weapon for the power-play because he scored 5 goals and had 7 assists on the extra man advantage last season.

With the addition of Mike Santorelli we expect Ryan Carter to be sent down so there can be room for Mike. We all know David Booth was traded a couple days ago, but now with Mike Santorelli back, he should fill the void of David Booth. Mike Santorelli actually had more points than David Booth last season, had a  better +/- and didn’t cost as much.

Mike Santorelli should fill the void of David Booth and we hope that Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm will contribute too this team this season. Hopefully Mike’s shoulder injury won’t come back and hopefully he can stay healthy all season long.
