It’s finally here. Tonight a new season begins, and for some, a new journey begins. Like the world of sales where your only as good as your last deal, in sports you’re only as good as your last victory. All 30 teams will start out tonight with the exact same record. Each team will hunt for the same prize, Lord Stanley’s Cup. Only one team can drink from it, and it will take them almost nine months to get there.
It is said that the Stanley Cup is the most difficult trophy to win in sports. Surviving 82 regular season games to make the playoffs is only the first test. Once you survive that, you must then win 16 of the most grueling games you’ll ever play. Not everyone is prepared both mentally and physically for the challenge. The one team that’s left standing is. You wanna be average? Anyone can be average. It’s the team and it’s players that are above average that end up as Champions.
NHL.com has prepared everything you need to know for it’s 95th season.
CBC does the best pregame openings you’ll ever see. Here’s the one that opened the 2010-2011 season last October.
Get ready for a great ride as the journey begins tonight.
