Today’s music video’s on Twofer Tuesday is Kill It In The Morning from the upcoming release due in February and a previous release whose title might not be suitable for younger viewers, but an awesome song anyway by a band out of Scotland, Twilight Sad.
With the unexpected news coming on Monday that goaltender Scott Clemmensen has undergone a minor knee procedure (read operation), the back up goaltending job is up for grabs among Jacob Markstrom and Tyler Plante. No reason to think that Jose Theodore wasn’t going to be the number one guy to start out anyway, however now the competition for his backup has become a bit more meaningful. If I had to guess between the two, unless Markstrom is lights out, and shuts out the world, he’s headed back to San Antonio. Rightfully so. He needs to play, and play often and there’s no need to rush him. With Theodore as the number one, the amount of playing time that Markstrom would get in Clemmensen’s absence would be minimal at best. That’s why Tyler Plante most likely will be the backup. It’s expected that Clemmer will be out approximately one month. If that lingers any longer, than the Panthers will have to make another decision.
Before we head to the links, it’s nice to see the healthy competition amongst the players. In talking with some of my Rat Trick brothers and our sister, (Dave, Josh, Scott, Patrick and Yuri) the other night, there are no guarantees of jobs. No one has a lock on anything, and there could be a couple surprises once we start the season. Tim Kennedy, Jonathan Huberdeau, Jack Skille and Evgeny Dadonov are all fighting for the NHL lives as forwards. Erik Gudbranson and Keaton Ellerby are among the defencemen hoping to stick as well. Two games this week against the Dallas Stars will tell us what we want to know.
