Two Games Today! Source: Florida Panthers Website

REDlines: Hockey Day In South Florida! September 19th.

Today’s music video is We Share The Same Skies by The Cribs.

Today the Florida Panthers and the Nashville Predators will face off not once, but twice as the two teams will play a hockey double header at the Bank Atlantic Center.  Game one begins at 3 and game two is at 7:30.  As former Chicago Cub Ernie Banks might say if he were a hockey player “Let’s skate Two”, instead of his famous “Let’s Play Two”.   I couldn’t agree more, and it would be a perfect day to grab the kids right as they get out of school (or after lunch) and get them over to the ” Bank”.

After two days of training camp which  began Saturday, and included two split squad scrimmage games, the Panthers will finally face an opposing team in what as become the most anticipated preseason in years.  57 players are in camp and today will be a very important one for many of those players who are trying to stick with the club.  Players like Scott Timmins, Michal Repik and first round pick Jonathan Huberdeau will be eager to prove that they belong. Among those getting the day off from today’s game will be Stephen Weiss and Quinton Howden who is nursing a sore neck. While I wasn’t able to attend Sunday’s scrimmage I was at Saturday’s open practice, and will admit it was great to see the team out on the ice and begin workouts.  You can’t tell too much from drills, but I will say that there was a lot of energy and excitement throughout the morning.  Fans watching where all contemplating the forward lines and defensive pairings, as we have our own “training camp” trying to remember the new players with their new numbers.

On a personal note, before we get to the links, I’d like to thank Florida Panther defenceman Erik Gudbranson for taking two minutes for a quick photo with @LilMissRatTrick.  The smile on her face I believe is permanent!

See you at the rink!
