Today’s music video on Friday Flashback is a repeat and why not. Friday I’m In Love by The Cure.
Well it’s almost here. The beginning of the season that is. Today all players on the 57 man roster of the Florida Panthers report to have their medicals and fitness levels checked. That 57 man roster is made up of 35 forwards, 17 defencemen, and five goaltenders. While a good percentage of those players know their fate, there are about 4 spots on the roster that some of these players will be fighting for. Dale Tallon’s hockey club will begin taking shape with the first official team workout on Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. at the
Incredible Ice Saveology.com Iceplex.
As you know I’m most excited to see Erik Gudbranson compete for a spot on the defence, and he’ll have every opportunity to prove that he does belong here. Also Quinton Howden and Jonathan Huberdeau will get their chance to prove that they’re ready for the big time. However players like Evgeny Dadonov, Shawn Matthias, Ryan Carter, Michal Repik and Stephen Reinprecht (longshot) are going to be fighting for their NHL lives.
We have not seen a competition for roster spots like this in quite a while, and to be completely honest it’s refreshing. There are going to be some battles in practice, and I have a feeling that you’re going to see and hear about players “fighting” to make the team. Like you, I’ve been looking forward to this all summer. I’ll be there Saturday, so make sure you stop by and say hello.
