REDlines: We Need You. August 24th.

Besides my shameless plug for our site (link to vote is here)I have a little bone to pick with the folks that pick the nationally televised games, and it has nothing to do with the Florida Panthers.  Year after year, the networks here in the United States continue to shove certain teams down our throats thinking that we want to see these matchups.  Which makes me think that those knuckleheads only watch those teams.  Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, the New York Rangers and you can probably add the Boston Bruins to that list for this season since they won the Cup last year.  See a pattern?  All Eastern Conference teams.  It’s almost as bad as watching the dreaded NY Yankees play the Boston Red Sox every damn weekend.

The teams that are getting the “shaft”?  Colorado, Anaheim, Los Angeles to name a few.  Players like Matt Duchene, Ryan Getzlaf, and Drew Doughty are almost unknowns.  It’s really too bad, and the rest of the country needs to see these players.  And I haven’t even mentioned the Canadian teams, which we all know mot likely never will show up on an NBC game.  Hopefully someday soon the big wigs who decide which teams to televise on these national games realize that it’s a mistake to not give these other players the exposure they deserve.  But until then, it appears we’re stuck watching the likes of Matt Cooke and Sean Avery.  A couple of real poster boys for America to see.
