REDlines: Shocker! Players Upset with JM the GM. August 12th

For today’s music video on Friday Flashback we go to 1987 for Just Like Heaven by the Cure.

JMart….Count Chokula…. and those are the clean names I’ve seen.  While he’s no longer coach or not qualified general manager of the Florida PanthersJacques Martin (Uncle Jack as I call him) news never escapes me.  If there’s a story about the curmudgeon I’ll find it.  When he deserted moved on from here to the dream job of coaching the Montreal Canadiens, he left behind bad contracts, his playbook of boring hockey, and with my foot in his arse.  It’s no secret that Mr. Personality rubbed some players the wrong way during his time with the Panthers (Gary Roberts and Olli Jokinen), it appears that he’s continued that same behaviour in Montreal.  While the Kostitsyn Brothers may not be the best examples of who should give opinions on Martin, it seems that they aren’t the only ones who don’t seem to have the coach on their holiday card list..  Greg Wyshynski known as Puck Daddy has the latest.  Somehow Uncle Jack has hung around long enough to win 600 games with one of the most boring coaching systems ever.  Like I’ve always said, his style is to pour paint on the ice and have his team watch it dry.  Needless to say he enters year three with the Habs, and he’s made it longer than I predicted.  Will his lack of emotion behind the bench last much longer?  Stay tuned.
