During the 2009-2010 season Timmins attended training and rookie camps with the Panthers before returning to the OHL for a season with the Windsor Spitfires team that won the OHL title and its second straight Memorial Cup championship. Timmons scored 30 goals with 24 assists and was +28 in 56 games. In 19 OHL playoff games, he scored 11 goals with 11 assists and was +18.

More After the Jump

He got his chance with the Panthers in Feb 2011 a stuck around through the end of the season. As a player familiar with DeBoer he got more chances then some other prospect might have gotten. Also with all the players traded at the deadline he got his chance to play for the Cats.

Timmins, while not big or tremendously gifted, is one of those well-rounded players who does all things well and gets the most out of his ability with his hockey smarts and determination. Timmins is a player with all the intangibles that helped three straight OHL championship teams…that type of player will be useful for the team in clutch situations.

In the end: Timmins is really a guy who should be in the AHL developing… with less than optimum size and average technical skills, he will likely need seasoning at the AHL level before he is ready to really compete with the Panthers. Long-term, he projects as a lower-line forward capable of penalty killing, winning faceoffs, blocking shots, and forechecking something that the Panthers will need in the future for sure.
