It must be nice to have a kid like Tyler Seguin hanging around waiting for an opportunity to play.  After not playing in the first two playoff series for the Boston Bruins an injury to Patrice Bergeron has allowed Seguin the opportunity to show his stuff.  And he sure has.  In two games so far in the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Seguin has three goals, three assists for six points.  He’s scored on 50% of his shots and he’s a +3.  Scorching! Kind of like Bruins coach Claude Julien had a secret weapon in his arsenal.  So what gives?  Why now after a so so regular season?  Here’s Tyler with a little insight  from the post game presser:

Q.  I think a lot of people are going to look at that game tonight and say why didn’t we see that in October or January or February.  What’s your answer to that?
TYLER SEGUIN:  I think it’s just a learning curve.  It’s been a whole learning curve all year, and as the year went on, I felt more confident, more poised, and in big games I always want to step up.  Tonight I had some lucky bounces, but I was trying to take advantage of all opportunities, and they were going in tonight.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of this series goes.  Last nights game was one that you just never wanted to see end.  Lots of action, lots of offence, and a bunch of great plays.  After comparing this game to game one, I think we can say that this is a pretty evenly matched series.  Both teams seem capable of shifting into a higher gear, albeit much to the chagrin of their coaches who would probably like to see something more even paced.  Nonetheless, this has the makings of a great series the rest of the way.  I still stand by my pick of Tampa in six.  And I’ll admit that it’s because I don’t want to see ex- Florida Panther Nathan Horton in the finals.  Yes…I hold grudges.  For awhile anyway……
