Today’s song on New Releases Thursday comes from the latest album by The Airborne Toxic Event. Here’s Half Of Something Else.
Tonight the San Jose Sharks and the Detroit Red Wings face off in a game seven that will decide the fate of their seasons. The Sharks who had a commanding three games to none lead, much like the Vancouver Canucks had against the Chicago Blackhawks, now find themselves with their backs against the wall, and possibly their tails between their legs. Here’s my take on both teams. San Jose, is a pererrenial playoff loser. They typically have successful regular seasons, but their top players, Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau can’t seem to ever perform well enough to win the big one. Tonight’s game will give new meaning to “Gut Check”.
As for the Detroit Red Wings, a team that I dislike about as much as I now dislike the Vancouver Canucks, I imagine that they will be playing loose, confident and controlled. With veterans and young players combined, including Pavel Datysuk, Tomas Holmstrom, Nicklas Lidstrom and that pain in the arse Dan Cleary, the Wings never stop flapping. You can never count them out, and with the way they have shut down San Jose’s “big” boys, my worst playoff matchup could reign true after tonight. This just doesn’t seem to be my playoff year does it?
