Daily Pucking Grind. February 1st

Today’s music selection is Time Is Running Out by Muse.

Well the second half (sorta) is getting off on the wrong foot.  Sorry just had to do that, so forgive me.  Florida Panther center Shawn Matthias is going to be out for six to eight weeks after breaking his right ankle when he slammed into the boards against the Boston Bruins last Thursday.  He had picked up points in three consecutive games prior to the injury and had been playing well.  A big body that will be missed, but this will create an opportunity for someone else.

Also, Michael Frolik who has been mirred in a severe goal scoring slump has been demoted to the fourth line.  With injuries this is about as close to a benching as he’ll get for now.  Frolik will center a line tonight with Darcy Hordichuk and Steve Bernier as his wingers.  I have no idea how these three will create much offence together, but we have seen stranger things happen.  Speaking of scoring, the Florida Panthers are really going to need players like Stephen Weiss and David Booth to pick up the pace, as they too are struggling to score goals.  We can only hope that the All-Star break has rejuvenated them somewhat.  More after the jump.
