Tomas Vokoun Gets A New Mask. Source: On Frozen Pond

News And Notes: The Evening Edition

Please gang, don’t get used to this as it appears that I’ve done this two nights in a row.  The thought if making sure that you were aware of some of these stories bothered me.  Almost as much as a non-working power play.  But that’s a whole “nother” issue.

George Richards from the Miami Herald gives us the inside scoop on some returning players from injury, Tomas Vokoun’s new mask, and the “Rochester shuffle”.  I’m sure many of you are asking, why would Tomas Vokoun be getting himself a new mask when he’s in the last year of a contract, and may not even finish the year with us.  Valid question.  Best answer(s) I can give are that maybe he’s going to sign an extension.  Maybe he feels as though if he shows commitment to the team, that more of his mates will step up and do the same.  Possibly he realizes, along with his agent, that the market for high priced goaltender’s isn’t what it used to be.  Plus, maybe the Panthers actually feel that he’s worth keeping since Jacob Markstrom isn’t exactly lighting it up in Rochester.

Jeremy Roenick, Cindy Crosby and Alex Ovechkin will be appearing on the Price Is Right next week.  Globe and Mail.

The New Jersey Devils have placed Brian Rolston on waivers.  As though he’s the issue for their woes.  Globe and Mail.
