Today’s music video is Trouble Comes Running by Spoon.

Some harsh words from Pete the Bore after the Florida Panthers defence played like boys against the men of the Anaheim Ducks.  Here’s what Pete had to say:

“We were very soft in our end of the ice playing without the puck,’’ said Panthers coach Pete DeBoer.. Their guys were playing men with boys. We didn’t have a response physically.

And then there was this:

“That’s a team that makes you pay for mistakes if you’re going to make soft plays with the puck or turn pucks over. We found that out the hard way tonight.’’

Finally some tough love from the frustrated coach as the Panthers began their three game western road trip on the short end of the stick losing to Anaheim 5-3.  I missed the entire first period, and some of the second.  But thanks to things like Twitter and sports updates that are sent to my phone, I was current on what was happening.  When I learned that George Parros had put the Ducks ahead 3-0 I felt as though the airwaves were tricking me.   Then four seconds after the ensuing face-off after his second goal, George and Darcy Hordichuk dropped the gloves and I figured the updates were accurate.  I don’t now about you, but any time a tough guy like Parros scores two goals in a game, and then caps it off with a fight, there’s not much anyone can do. Even though the fight could barely be called that, as the players fell to the ice within seconds, Parros ended the night an assist short of the Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Here’s the TSN boxscore.

FRANK, THAT’S WHAT GOUGH GUYS NOW HAVE TO DO, BE ABLE TO ALSO PLAY AND NOT JUST FIGHT. OUR GUY GETS 2 MINS ICE TIME WHEN HE DOES GET INTO THE LINE UP. GOTTA BLAME DEBOER ON THAT ONE. IF HE WANTS SOME TOUGHNESS LET DARCY PLAY SOME. ALSO HOW THE HELL DOES HE HAVE REPIK ON THE 4TH LINE?????? BLOWS MY MIND. GIVE THIS KID A CHANCE ALREADY. CAN’T BE NO WORSE THAN BOOTH RIGHT NOW

Hank: I’ve been screaming the same things exactly. Darcy is the first enforcer type that we’ve had in awhile that has some talent, and isn’t a total liability. Tarnasky was ok, but as we know Deboer as well as Martin before him don’t give these guys much ice time. When Darcy fought in the last home game I went to early in the first, I think he had only two more shifts the whole game. We are not that good to waste that roster spot.

As for Repik, the Panthers are doing the same thing to him that they did to Anthony Stewart. Wasting him. Stewie now is a decent 2nd liner with Atlanta. Repik is not, repeat not a fourth line guy. You and I both know that you don’t get any scoring chances that way. These decisions by Pete the Bore are the one’s that make me think he belongs back in juniors, as he can’t judge NHL talent.
