I’m a blessed man. It sounds cliche’, but I truly am. I have a steady job in a time when so many have lost theirs. Today/Tonight, I will dine with my family and friends who are feet away while those who protect our land are thousands of miles from the ones they love. It’s a safe bet that I will eat way too much while many will go hungry tonight. I have a roof over my head with some of the luxuries of life while someone will sleep on a sidewalk tonight. That’s blessed. I’m a lucky man and I try to remember it not just today, but every day (even though it’s easy to forget and complain about the trivial things in life).
I’m thankful for my girlfriend of nearly four years, my step children and her parents. Their mere presence reminds me of just great my life is. They are the best thing to ever happen to me and I couldn’t even begin to express my love for them.
I’m thankful for the greatest parents and brother a guy could ask for. No matter what has happened in my life, they’ve always been there with loving arms and sage advice. They tell me they’re proud of the person I’ve become. I’m just trying to be like them. Happy 40th tomorrow brother!
I’m thankful for Frank Rekas, my writing partner here at The Rat Trick for welcoming me on board and allowing me to let my thoughts out about my hockey team. Without this, I’m just yelling at the TV, annoying the hell out of my family and neighbors!
Like Frank, I’m thankful for a hockey team in South Florida. I don’t take it for granted that I’m less than an hour from the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise. There’s a lot of folks who love this game who can’t say that. I don’t take it for granted.
I’m thankful for this game of hockey for inspiring me this year to not only learn to ice skate, but play the game as well. The journey has re-energized my passion to keep fit and remind me that you’re never too old to do something if you want to do it!
And if you’re reading this, I’m thankful for you! If you’ve ever taken the time, Panther fan or not, to read one of our stories, you have my gratitude. Thank you for reading. And special thanks to those who have referred someone here and those who retweet links to our stories.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours,
