Panthers Win, But Still Take “It” On The Cheek

The game was all but decided in less than a minute early in the first when the Florida Panthers got goals from Chris Higgins and Mike Santorelli to give the Panthers a quick 2-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild. The Wild were already coming off an embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Thrashers by a score of 5-1, and immediately after the second goal, Wild head coach Todd Richards called a time out to either settle the troops.  Or give them the old “what for”.  Apparently whatever Richards said worked as the Wild were not the same team afterwards, and for parts of the balance of the game neither were the Panthers.

Take 2 pts and run.. Maybe this should be the team motto.. Now the only thing they need to do is learn how to grab some pts in their losses.. 7-7 record looks decent considering they’re on a 2 game-win streak.. It would’ve helped to pick up some pts in the losses, and they probably deserved a few, but 7-7 is it for now…

Problem being now is the rest of November’s schedule doesn’t look promising.. A 4 game road-trip, followed by 3 home games Turkey Week against competitive teams.. Why does it seem like we’re always up against it?? Best case scenario looks to be float around .500 through November, hang with the playoff pack, and Tallon has to find a guy or two to help make a run…

Maybe this is a pipe dream, but if we hang on close enough through New Years, I believe Guerin deserves a call.. I’m sure he’d be looking for a more legit playoff contender, but I’d sure hope Tallon would at least extend an offer..

All I can add to that is tonight is a very important game. The Panthers have a chance to make a huge statment.

Biggest game of the season, so far. Philly is top 2 in the East and to earn a win on the road against them would be huge in every way. Hopefully, the guys come out full of piss and vinegar after what happened to Bernier. Even getting a point tonight would be a plus. They’re going to need their highest compete level against these guys.

At the very least, I hope Darcy drops asshole Carcillo.
